Starting from Chisenhale Art Place, 64-84 Chisenhale Rd, E3 5QZ
[1] Come out of Chisenhale Art Place and turn right along Chisenhale Road. Cross and turn left along Vivian Road. At the end of Vivian Road use the zebra crossing to get across Roman Road. Turn left and walk until you reach Medway Road, where you turn right.
[2] Walk all the way along Medway Road until you reach the junction with Antill Road. Cross and then turn left along Antill Road. Turn first right along Coborn Road, passing underneath the railway bridge.
[3] Cross Lichfield Road, and then turn right into Morgan Street. Cross and head into the garden square in Tredegar Square.
(A) Tredegar Square is a Georgian square which has gardens in the centre with lawns and large trees. The surrounding area was badly bombed during World War II.
Walk through and then cross the road to go right along College Terrace. At the end turn left along Lichfield Road. Use the zebra crossing at the end to cross Grove Road and walk into Mile End Park.
(B) It was here, at the railway bridge in Grove Road, that the first flying bomb on London fell on 13 June 1944.
Walk up to the front of the Arts Pavilion, then follow the path around to the right.
[4] When you reach the Regent’s Canal towpath turn right and pass underneath the railway bridge. Keep along the towpath until you approach Roman Road Bridge. Go right, off the towpath, and up onto Roman Road. Cross the road using the pedestrian crossing and then turn right. Cross Grove Road and continue along Roman Road. Take the second road on the left, Vivian Road. At the end go right to return to the starting point.
