Description

[1]   From the Centre (which has a large, free car park and a cafe and vending machines inside) entrance turn right and go around towards the back of the building joining the footpath, Rose Walk, to the right of the Bowling Club gates. Continue on this path, keeping the play area on the right and  allotments on your left, until you reach (unnamed at this point) Blunsdon Road, and turn left. Pass through the 2 cycle barriers and at the walled brook bridge at the end of the row of houses turn left, by the wicker fence. Go on to the footpath towards the underpass in Rushmere Path.

(A) The Manor Farm, sited to your right, which is now a public house and restaurant, dates back to the 17th Century. There is a play area at the back and the pub is child friendly.

[2] Turn right into the underpass and join the footpath signed as Charlock Path. Continue along this path with the brook to your right, past the first footbridge. At the end turn right over the footbridge. Bear left and then immediately right onto the footpath running between the houses almost oposite the bridge (not the signed Public Footpath sign to the left). Continue on this cycle /pedestrian path (look out for cyclists!), crossing Capesthorne Drive, until you pass the childrens' playground on the left, and reach the junction with Haydon End Lane (unnamed here), a footpath.

Take care along this pathway as the brook has steep slopes and water running through.

[3]  At Haydon End Lane, the unnamed wider tarmaced path, turn left and follow the footpath, crossing a minor road. Continue past Orchid Vale School on your left. At the junction with Torun Way cross over the road and turn left, following the pavement round to the right until the junction with Haydon End Lane just by the childrens play area on the right.

Take care crossing the road at Torun Way as this is a busy car and bus route.

[4]  From the junction, continue along the path, keeping the childrens' play area on your right, until the second footpath on the left, just before the farm buildings. Turn left through the grassed area. Follow the footpath, crossing Newson Road and Casterbridge Road. Continue where signed 15 - 25 0dds, until the footpath junction at Maybold Crescent.

[5]  At this junction turn left and follow the footpath, keeping the brook to your right, crossing Torun Road South (unnamed here) . You will see another childrens' play area to your left. Continue along this bridleway / footpath, signed Charmind Walk. Keep the houses on your left and continue past the large oak tree in the middle of the open green area.

[6]  After the oak tree follow the footpath which goes off to the right passing between the houses until you reach the road. At the road turn right until you reach the brook and turn to the left, keeping the brook to your right. This brings you back to the footbridge crossed earlier. Cross over the footbridge and continue straight ahead until you pass through the underpass, on Bluebell Path, and into Morrisons car park. (Take care of the traffic within the Morrisons' Car Park and use the pedestrian crossings). Opposite the store entrance, turn left and continue past the building on the left to the back using the road crossing, taking you back to the Haydon Centre. (Use the pedestrian crossing at the rear of the store to return to the Haydon Centre).
