Route Summary This is a short circular walking starting at Lumley Community Centre via Cocken Lane and George Pitt Lane. Paths may be muddy and take care when crossing roads. This walk is not suitable for wheelchairs.

Description
  1. Turn right out of Community Centre and walk along Front Street, passing the Coop and ‘The Old England’ on your left.
  2. Turn right onto Cocken Lane, just after the Church with Lumley Primary School on your left.
  3. Cross the road when the footpath runs out and continue down Cocken Lane, turning left onto the Public Bridleway opposite the playing field.  Continue along the bridleway between the fields.
  4. When you arrive at a footpath cross roads turn left towards the end of the houses and on reaching them, continue straight ahead with the houses on your left.
  5. Cross the stile and turn left at the Great Lumley sign onto Front Street. Cross the road when the footpath runs out passing the vicarage on your right at the road bends left.
  6. Continue up Front Street passing the Church on your left and Scott Court on your right.  Cross the road at the shops and re-enter the Community Centre.
