Route Summary A short circular walk along Sherburn Way and through Sherburn Woods with views of Durham Cathedral. Take care crossing roads and on footpaths that may be slippery when muddy.

Description
  1. Exit the Leisure Centre and walk straight over the football pitches to join Front Street via a gap in the wall. 
  2. Cross Front Street and turn left to walk down the footpath
  3. Turn right onto Sherburn Way with St. Mary’s Church on your left.  Stay on the footpath between two fences.
  4. Turn right when you reach Mill Lane and stay on the footpath with Sherburn Woods on your left.
  5. Cross the road opposite the sewerage works and enter Sherburn Woods to walk along a bark path, bearing right when the path forks. 
  6. Exit the woods and take the second path to the left.  Continue up the hill passing a bench on your left.  Looking back you can see Durham Cathedral in the distance. 
  7. Turn left when you reach the crossroads to walk back down towards Sherburn Village.
  8. Turn left onto Front Street and continue all the way until you reach the Leisure Centre on your right hand side. 
  9. Turn right at the gap in the wall and re enter the Leisure Centre.
