This inner city walk has a number of busy roads, please take care when crossing these and use pedestrian crossings where possible.
[1] Leave Fosse Neighbourhood Centre and turn left onto Mantle Road. Cross over Battenberg Road and continue straight on.
[2] At the junction with Paget Road turn left and continue to the T junction with Tudor Road.
[3] Cross over Tudor Road and straight ahead enter Rally Park through the gates. Continue straight ahead on the park path, keeping the play area on your left and ignoring any of the turn offs.
[4] At the path T junction turn right following the path around the edge of the park.
[5] As the path reaches the river you come to a bridge over the river on the left. Turn left here onto the bridge and cross to the other side.
[6] Shortly after crossing the river you reach a second bridge over the canal. Before you reach this bridge, bear left onto a rough track through the grass that leads to the canal. Once you reach the canal path turn left following the Grand Union Canal.
This short path has a stony surface on a slope. Please be careful with your footing.
The towpath is quite narrow in parts. Please keep away from the edge
[7] After crossing a bridge over the weir, where the river and the canal meet, you come to a Lock. Leave the canal path at the Lock and join the road at Frog Island. Turn left onto this road and follow it for around 600m until you see the Aldi supermarke
(A) Frog Island is so called because it lies between the River Soar and the Grand Union Canal. As such it would have had a good population of frogs before it was built upon.
[8] Just before you reach Aldi take the street on your left called Dunton Street. Continue straight on along this street, crossing straight over all of the junctions until you reach the T junction with Bonchruch Street.
[9] At the T junction cross straight over heading through the park entrance into Rally Park. After the gates turn left following the path into the park.
[10] As the path emerges into the park, keep the childrens play area on your left and head towards the main park entrance that you came through earlier which is on your right.
[11] On leaving the park cross straight over Tudor Road into Paget Road.
[12] Take your first right hand turn into Mantle Road. Keep straight on, crossing over Battenberg Road until you see Fosse Neighbourhood Centre on your right.
