[1] Turn right outside Fosse Community Centre and continue along Mantle Road
[2] Turn right onto Empire Road and continue to the end
[3] Turn right onto Tudor Road and continue for about 300 meters
[4] Turn left into the Rally Community Park
[5] Take the path to the left and continue straight on with the houses to the left, then exit the park through the squeeze gate and cross the bridge over Fosse Road
(A) This path is on the route of the former Leicester to Swannington Railway from West Bridge Station to Desford and Coalville. The line opened in 1832 and carried coal from the Leicestershire coalfield and granite from the Groby quarries. Passenger trains serving Glenfield , Kirby Muxloe and Ratby ceased in 1928 and the line finally closed in 1966. It is possible to walk to the Railway Inn at Ratby along the old track bed - with diversions around the closed Glenfield tunnel
[6] Continue for 200 meters and then take the path diagonally to the right
[7] Turn left at the end onto Fosse Road North, continue to the traffic lights, passing the allotments on the left
[8] Turn right at the lights to cross over Fosse Road North and continue along Woodgate, passing the shops on the right
(B) Wood from the Leicestershire forests would have passed through Wood Gate on its way into the town. The Woodgate area was formerly known as St Leonard's and was a busy industrial area with hosiery, dyeworks and biscuit factories. Virtually all have now disappeared and been demolished. Most of the houses were built in the late 1890s and early 1900s to provide homes for the local workers. The area is now part of the city's regeneration plans.
[9] Turn second right into Marshall Street and continue to the end of the street
[10] Turn left onto Bonchurch Street and continue for about 200 meters
[11] Turn right opposite the end of Dunton Road through the entrance to the Rally Park. Take the path to the left with the Adventure Playground on your right.
[12] Follow the path forward, passing the play area on the left, then exit the park through the same gate that you originally entered
[13] Continue onto Paget Road then take the first right onto Mantle Road and return to the Community Centre
