Getting there

There is ample car parking in Burton Square, including disabled parking.

The Church Centre is served by bus route 8 from Chell Road in the centre of Stafford to Moss Pit. The stops are on John Amery Drive at the junction with Burton Square. At the time of writing buses operate every 15 minutes on weekdays and Saturdays and hourly on Sundays.

Description

Starting from the Church Centre main entrance on Burton Square.

[1]  On the opposite side of Burton Square there is an area with recycling bins. Cross the road carefully and walk round to the left of the bins then directly across the grass towards the main road (Rising Brook). Just before you reach the road, there is a cycle-way; cross it carefully to reach a pedestrian crossing with lights.

To avoid the grass you should turn left outside the Church Centre and go along Burton Square to John Avery Drive. Turn right and carefully cross Burton Square to the pavement, then walk down John Amery Drive to Rising Brook and turn right to reach the pedestrian crossing.

[2]  Use the pedestrian-controlled lights to safely cross Rising Brook, and take the wide tarmac path through the hedge, curving round to the left across a green towards Brookglen Road.

You can cut directly across the grass if you prefer.

[3]  Turn right to walk along Brookglen Road, taking care because the pavement on Brookglen Road is shared with cyclists. Take care crossing the side turning at the edge of the green (marked Brookglen Road 2-14).

[4]  Continue along Brookglen Road. Take care crossing the end of Hawksmoor Road and, later, Merrivale Road to arrive at the playground, which is next to the railway.

There is a seat, but it is inside the fenced play area.

[5]  Retrace your steps to the church.
