Getting there

There is ample parking available in Burton Square, including disabled parking.

The Church Centre is served by bus route 8 from Chell Road in the centre of Stafford to Moss Pit. The stops are on John Amery Drive at the junction with Burton Square. At the time of writing buses operate every 15 minutes on weekdays and Saturdays and hourly on Sundays.

Description

[1]  Leave the ChurchCentre from the entrance on Burton Square. Turn left and walk to John Amery Drive. Cross the road with care.

[2]  Turn left down John Amery Drive, passing Merrey Road and Hesketh Road.

[3] At the crossroads, turn right into Hazelton Green and walk to the T-junction on Burton Manor Road. Cross the road carefully. There is a traffic island just to the right of the junction. Alternatively, with a pram or wheelchair cross Hazelton Green then use the ramped driveway 10 metres down Burton Manor Road to cross.

[4] Turn left and then take the first right into Shannon Road. Walk past Corran Road then where Shannon Road curves left bear right down Hambridge Close.

[5] At the end of Hambridge Close lies a grassy area with tarmac paths. Just round to the right beyond the fenced enclosure is a bridge across the Rising Brook. Retrace your steps from here back to the start.

You can extend this walk if you wish by turning left at the end of Hambridge Close and walking down the wide tarmac path along the grassed area by the brook.

Alternatively, you can also keep going over the bridge and turn right into Barnes Road. Go past Highfields Social Club and the allotments on your left to reach the football pitch. Then return to the church via walk 306.2. The total walk should take approximately 32 minutes.
