Getting there

There is ample car parking available in Burton Square, including disabled parking.

The Church Centre is served by bus route 8 from Chell Road in the centre of Stafford to Moss Pit. The stops are on John Amery Drive at the junction with Burton Square. At the time of writing buses operate every 15 minutes on weekdays and Saturdays and hourly on Sundays.

Description

[1]  Leave the Church Centre by the entrance on Burton Square. Turn right along Burton Square then cross the road to the Post Office. Walk past the Post Office and the row of shops next to it, then past an open area with disabled parking bays.

[2]  Continue past the supermarket and cross the service road beyond to reach the Methodist Church. Keep going to the left of the church and on to the end of the road where you will find the entrance to Stafford Sports College. On the other side of Rising Brook there is the Royal Oak pub, a fine building in half-timbered style.

[3]  Carefully cross the road, turn left and cross the College entrance. Walk a few metres to the main road (Rising Brook). Turn right along Rising Brook past the College. Over the road are a bookmakers, a newsagents then a dentists

[4]  Take the first right up Churchill Way. Cross the back entrance to the College.

A few metres down Churchill Way there is a grassed area where you can cut the walk short if you like. Unfortunately there are no seats, but there are two tree stumps to sit on!

[5]  Cross over and take the first left down Nelson Way. Walk to the grassed area with trees. If you're thinking of a game of football don't bother. There are two signs forbidding it!

[6]  Retrace your steps to the start point.
