Description

[1] come out of the Community Centre and turn right along Dunstable Road, following the boundary of the grounds of Downside Primary School.

(A) Downside Primary School.

[2]  When you reach Chawl End Lane, turn right and follow the footpath as far as the pedestrian crossing.

[3] Cross at the crossing and continue in the same direction until you reach the intersection with Connaught Road.

[4] Turn left into Connaught Road and follow the left hand path crossing Thornhill Road and passing  the Kharee Food Store.

Continue past the turnings for  Chandos Road and Beverley Road until you reach the junction with Kingsway.

[5] Here turn left and just past the boarded up pub you can turn left to-

[6] The entrance to Kingsway Recreation Ground. Follow the path into the recreation ground as it turns to the right, passing a children's play area on the left..

Feel free to do a circuit of the pitch, before taking the broad steps up to the Dunstable Road. There is a path that avoids the steps if necessary.

(B) The Kingsway Recreation Ground has a good football pitch, a clubhouse and a children's play area. It was the home to The 61 FC (Luton) football club

[7] Turn left at the top and follow the path alongside the busy road passing-

(C) The Beech Hill Bowls Club. The Club says it is looking for new members, but unfortunately it has such high fences you will not be able to see how much fun they are having.

Continue along the path, crossing the turnings to Beverley Road, Chandos Road and Thornhill Road, until you reach the roundabout.

[8] Here turn left and go up the side of Chaul End Lane , until you get back to the same  pedestrian crossing you came by.

[9] Go back across the pedestrian crossing, turn right and walk back down the other side of Chaul End Lane. Turn left in Dunstable Road and retrace your route back to the Community Centre.
