Getting there

By car, there is a car park at the rear of the Palls Centre and also across the street at The New Era Centre.

By Bus, There is a bus stop on Paradise Street, or from the bus station up Church Street to the mini roundabout and then turn right onto Paradise Street.

By Train, The station is next to the Tesco Superstore almost opposite Paradise Street.

Description

[1] From the Paradise Street entrance of the Pals Centre turn left and walk up the road and take first left on to St James Street

[2] Walk up the pavement keeping to the left of the skate park, take the first right onto Scaitcliffe Street (by the mini roundabout).

[3] Walk down past The Globe Centre on you left and take the second left onto Richmond Street.  (Just past the Hyndburn Homes office.)

[4] Walk up Richmond Street and take the third street on the right (4a) Richmond Hill Street and follow to the end.

[5] Carefully cross the road,  turn right and then immediately left onto Charter Street, walk down the street crossing at a convenient position,follow to the end of the high attractive stone wall around a wooded area and turn right onto Howard Close.

[6] Walk down Howard Close to the T junction and turn left and then right onto the path to Hyndburn Greenway.

[7] Turn right and walk along the Greenway and follow till you reach Accrington Railway Station.

[8] At the station follow the path round the Tesco Superstore keeping under the outside cover till you reach the second entrance opposite the roundabout.

[9] Turn left and head toward the roundabout, carefully cross at the crossing points and go almost straight ahead into Paradise Street.  Walk down the street back to the Pals Centre.

B. The Globe Centre building remains from the Howard & Bullough Globe Works, a 52 acre industrial site that specialised in manufacturing machinery for the textile industry throughout the 20th Century.

D. Accrington railway bridge, this is the original bridge but only half of it remains, the other half would have been over the booking office

E. Bedded inlays showing the route of the railway lines coming into the station and goods yard
