[1] Leaving the Community Centre, walk up Adams Rd with the Children's Centre on the left. At Gloucester Rd turn right. Kenley is on your right at the corner and the Opportunities Centre is on the left.
[2] Follow the footpath and continue through the Hawkinge underpass to the other side. You will see the the Neighbourhood Office on the left in Tangmere House and Debden on your right. Cross over to the Debden side, minding the traffic coming from behind as well as left, continuing past Debden and Croydon. There is a slight incline up this length of Gloucester Rd.
[3] After Croydon at the junction (not sign posted) turn right into Freedom Rd (not sign posted). Before going further you can stop here on the benches for a rest. If you look back you can see the magnificent mural of Dunn's River Falls on the end wall of Debden.
[4] Continuing into Freedom Rd you soon see Lordship Rec ahead behind a fence. Carry on around the corner to the right. The footpath is very uneven so you might use the road if this is a problem. Mind the traffic.
[5] After about 20m there is access to a meadow in the Rec through a gate on the left. There is no footpath in the meadow but this is a nice place for a blanket picnic.
[6] About a further 20m on is another gate (Freedom Gate) giving entrance to the Rec. Enter and walk straight ahead on a wide path with a line of trees on the left. Soon you will see a wooden bench under birch trees on your left where you can pause for a break.
[7] Continuing on the path you will come to a junction. Turn left on to the path cutting between the line of trees. Walk straight up and over a field. The Lake and the Hub (the Environment Centre) are on the right across the field. Benches are along the left side of the path.
[8] At the top of this uphill path you could stop at one of the benches to admire the view of the whole park. From here, taking another path to the right across the top of the Rec you will eventually walk through a tunnel of trees and join another footpath that runs along the western side of the Rec.
[9] Turn right into this path and and walk down past the cycle park on the right. You can see the Hub and the Lake in the middle of the Rec.
[10] At Moselle Gate turn right into the path that has the line of trees now on your right. The Lake is behind the trees.
[11] Past the lake with the river on the left you meet the junction you previously turned left onto. Turn left here towards the back of the Shell Theatre. At the theatre keep to the right and you can see the Community Centre ahead of you. The BMX track and adventure play area are on the right.
[12] At the next junction of footpaths turn right into the footpath leading to the main gate. Harmony Gardens can be seen through the fence on the left. After the main gate turn left into Adams Rd and the Community Centre.
