This short circular walk takes you not far from the Laurels and is on even pavements in quiet residential street and a small local park with plenty of seating. Dogs owners are well catered for.
[1] Leave the Laurels (A) and turn left into St Ann's Rd, past the blocks of flats and a post box to the first turning on the left.
[2] Follow North Grove, past Ascot Rd, to Penrith Rd. Turn left here and continue walking to the end where Penrith Rd meets Cornwall Rd.
[3] Cross Cornwall Rd, being mindful of the traffic. You will see Chestnuts Park ahead on the other side of the road. Turn left on Cornwall Rd towards St Ann's Rd. Before reaching St Ann's Rd, and directly opposite the entrance to the Laurels, is a gate into the park.
[4] Go through the gate and keep right, past the Chestnuts Community Centre (B) on the left, and walk on with Cornwall Rd on your right. You will approach a sports area with basketball and tennis courts (C and D). There is a benches here if a game is in progress and you wish to watch it, or just have a rest.
[5 ] Follow the path to the top and keep left as it turns. A tall line of trees and shrubs is on your right and you cans see the expanse of the park open field on the left.
[6] At the next turning of the path keep left with Black Boy Rd on your right.
[7] Continue to the end of the park near St Ann's Rd and turn left. You will see Chestnuts Cafe (F) in front of you where you can sit inside or outside on the benches.
[8] Leaving the cafe, continue along the path past the play area on the left and the Horse sculpture on the right towards the gate to St Anns Rd and the Laurels (H).
