This walk takes you to a busy road and place to rest and then back through more residential streets to a park and the Laurels.
[1] Leave the Laurels and turn right into Cornwall Rd. Continue up this long straight road for 10 or 15 minutes until you reach the busy West Green Rd.
[2] Turn left into West Green Rd and take the first pedestrian crossing to The Green (minding the traffic), which is a very small triangular park. Here you can take a break on the benches and take time to read the war memorial and the plaque commemorating the people who arrived in London from the Caribbean on the Windrush ship.
[3] Leave The Green by turning left into Phillip Lane. Take the next crossing over West Green Rd, minding the traffic.
[4] On the other side of West Green Rd turn left into Black Boy Rd and start the walk downhill back to Chestnuts Park.
[5] Cross Clarence Rd, next to the shop, towards the corner gate of Chestnuts Park. Through the gate keep to the left hand path and walk across the top of the park with a high back of trees and shrubs on your left. There are a number of park benches if you need a rest.
[6] At the next turning follow the path around to the right. Tennis and basketball courts are on you right with another opportunity to stop and sit.
[7] Passing the Chestnuts Community Centre on you right you will see the Horse sculpture ahead and the park gate to Cornwall Rd to the left. Cross over the road back to the Laurels.
