Description

[1] With your back to the Beehive Centre turn right along Stretford Road.Turn right into Congleton Road.  At the end cross Park Crescent and take the path straight ahead of you into St George Park.  Follow this path down with the tennis courts on your right.

[2] Bear left and follow the path down to the lake edge.

[3] Turn left and follow the path with the lake on your right.  Continue to do an almost complete circuit of the lake.

[4] Take a path to the left by a litter bin and a short safety railing.

This path slopes up quite steeply and is in a poor state of repair. Do watch your footing.

For a shorter more wheelchair friendly route continue with the children's play area on your left to meet up with the longer route at a 'crossroad' of paths near the skateboard area.  This route also takes you past the kiosk cafe.

Follow this rising path round with the children's play area on your right then continue up the path up the slope to the avenue of trees ahead.

[5] At a meeting of several paths turn right onto the path down the avenue of plane trees and walk downhill.

[6] When you reach the last trees of the avenue take the path to the right and continue downhill.  (If you continue a short way straight on rather than taking the right hand path you will come to the toilets.)  Continue on this path, crossing another path (this is the point where the alternative route rejoins the longer route).  Go past the skateboard area on your left and follow the path alongside a hedge on the right bordering the bowling greens.

[7] At a fork in the path take the right fork and curve round to meet the path where you entered the park.  Turn left onto the path and exit the park, crossing the road.  Turn left along Park Crescent.

[8] Turn right into Stretford Avenue and left at the top into Stretford Road and back to the Beehive Centre.
