Getting there

Approaching West Moors on the B3072 from Ferndown, enter the village, where the B3072 is called Station Road, and the Group Practice is on your left, immediately after the end of the first run of shops and opposite the library.  From the north, the B3072 comes through West Moors from Verwood.  Although the Group Practice faces Station Road, the entrance is in a short run of shops round the corner on Farm Road.  It is from the Station Road frontage that this walk starts.  There is parking in side roads around.

By bus, the Yellow 4c runs hourly between Bournemouth and West Moors on weekdays or the Wilts and Dorset X6 travels hourly between Poole, Ferndown, West Moors, Ringwood and Bournemouth on weekdays.  There are several bus stops along Station Road.

Description

[1] With the surgery frontage on your right go along Station Road.  Pass the Tap and Railway pub on your right and cross Pennington Road onto the village green, which consists of a grassy strip between two roads on your left.

Passing the monument, walk along the grassy area and at the end, cross busy Station road on your left when it is safe to do so.  Walk on until you come to a Mini-roundabout.

[2] Turn left into Moorside Road ( the first of two roads on your left). After the road bends slightly to the left and you pass by a long wooden fence, take the first right, Avon Road.

[3] Continue down Avon Road passing Shirley Close on your left, to arrive at T-junction, with a bus stop ahead of you This is Pinehurst Road.

[4]  Cross road and turn right. Near where you turn right onto Pinehurst Road, there is a Catholic Church on your left.  You can access it from Pinehurst Road if you want to have a look. At the end of Pinehurst Road, return to the Mini-roundabout [2].

Cross over Station Road on left when it is safe to do so and retrace your steps via the village green until you can return back to your start point at the surgery.
