[1] Exit the main entrance and proceed straight ahead, through the entrance gates and turn left for the City Centre.
[2] At the traffic lights, cross the road and continue straight ahead to North Road and turn left down the hill.
[3] At the entrance to Wharton Park, turn left into the park and continue up the path passing the Greenkeepers house on your left.
[4] Zig zag up the paths to the top of the hill, and turn right up some steps to the “ramparts”.
[5] Exit the ramparts by the steps, turn left and proceed on the path along the high ground passing the play area on your left, and continue down the access road to the Park down a steep slope until the main road is reached.
[6] Turn left up the footpath of the main road for 50m to a road sign until you have passed the road junction on the opposite side into the Durham Light Infantry Museum (DLI).
[7] Cross the main road taking great care of the traffic.
[8] Go straight ahead along the footpath on the left hand side of the access road to the DLI.
[9] Continue on the footpath which veers away from the road, and at the next footpath junction, turn very sharply left and follow this footpath back to County Hall.
