[1] Turn left in front of County Hall and walk towards Durham Light Infantry (DLI) museum.
[2] When path forks, bear left. Walk down the steps and turn right when you reach another footpath.
[3] Turn left in front of a bench to walk up to the DLI museum. Pass the museum on your left and exit the park. Turn right downhill to get to the road.
[4] Turn left at the sign 'Aykley Head & Newton Hall'. Go through the left gate and follow the wide path for a distance. You will have panoramic views over Durham Valley on your right.
[5] When the path forks, bear left to go through two gates. When you are on a tarmac road again, turn left to go through a yellow gate. Walk until you reach the parking lot at the end.
[6] There is a footpath sharp to your left. Follow it and walk above the footpath that you just came along. Follow this path around for a distance. Enjoy beautiful views over the Durham Valley.
[7] When you reach the back of County Hall, walk down the meadow on your left.
Take care as the meadow might be muddy at times.
[8] Turn left at the bottom and follow the path until you reach steps on your right. Climb up the stairs and retrace your steps to County Hall.
