Description

[1] Enter the Nature Reserve through two gates from the car park. Turn left after the second gate to follow the graveled path along the top of the Reserve.

[2] After a while, there will be a stile on your left that leads out to the road and a path on your right leading downhill through the heather. Take the path on your right and follow it downhill.

Take care going downhill as it is quite steep.

[3] The path will fork out, bear left to continue walking downhill.

[4] You will reach a junction of paths, turn left to walk further downhill.

[5] You are now at the bottom of the Nature Reserve. Turn right and follow this path for a distance to exit the Nature Reserve through a gate.

Take care as this path might be muddy at times.

[6] When you reached the road, turn right to follow the road uphill. Watch out for traffic. Follow the road as it goes off to the right, leading you back to the starting point.

The Nature Reserve in Hedleyhope offers great outdoor activities! The Durham Wildlife Trust has organised a watch group for this particular Nature Reserve. Young members benefit from exciting activities like pond-dipping, wildlife safaris or woodland wanders. Of course, Hedleyhope Fell offers a great variety for walkers and runners! The Community Association of East Hedleyhope not only manages the Nature Reserve but also runs social activities in the village hall.
