[1] Turn right out of the car park along North Terrace. After a short distance, cross the road to turn left into Tempest Road. Stay on the pavement with the road on your left. You will pass a petrol station on your right.
[2] In front of you, there will be a sign with 'Rockhouse Dene'. Follow this sign, and bear right to walk downhill into the woods. After a short distance you will see a footbridge at the bottom of the valley. Walk down the steps and go over the bridge and through the grass.
Take care when walking downhill as it may be muddy.
[3] Go up the steps again and you will reach a graveled path. Turn right here and walk uphill until you reach the end of 'Rockhouse Dene'.
[4] Cross the road and continue straight ahead to walk along Northdene Avenue until you reach a main road (Dene House Road). Turn right here and follow this road until the end.
[5] At the end you will reach the main coast road. Cross over and turn right to walk back to the starting point.
Seaham has produced several gifted footballers: Terry Fenwick and Brian Marwood both played for England. Brian Marwood worked as a commentator for Sky Sports after his career as a footballer. There was a Seaham Wednesday FC that existed for only 10 years. The club provided opportunities for footballers who lived or worked in Seaham and could not play on the weekend due to their work.
Besides football and many other sports activities such as cricket, bowls and rugby, Seaham also holds an annual Town Council Sea Angling Championship in November.
