This walk has a number of busy roads, please take care when crossing these and use pedestrian crossings where possible
Some of the pavements and paths are uneven in places - take care.
[1] Turn right outside the Community Centre and then first left onto Blenheim Way. Turn first right onto Derry Walk and continue to the end
[2] Turn left onto Halifax Drive and continue down the steep gradient to the Red Hill Way Roundabout
[3] Bear right around the roundabout and, after a short distance, cross Red Hill Way at the pedestrian crossing and turn right
[4] Take the next left, 'The Sidings' and continue up the hill to Leicester North Railway Station
(A) Leicester North is the southern terminus of the preserved 8 mile section of the Great Central Railway. Train services operate to Loughborough at weekends, during half terms and on special occasions.
Close to the station is the Platform Cafe which is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 4pm.
[5] Turn around and take the path on the left just after the Platform Cafe and cross red Hill Way using the footbridge
[6] Cross over Thurcaston Road and turn first right onto Barnwell Avenue. continue up the hill following the old railway embankment which took the railway line on into Leicester Central station
[7] Bear right at the top of the hill to take the path at the back of the houses, next to the embankment.
[8] After a few metres turn right through the gap in the embankment. Turn left at the 'T' junction of paths in front of the houses
[9] After about 50m turn sharp right onto Greystoke Close walking up the steep gradient and bear left onto Kinley Road and continue up the hill
[10] At its end turn left and then right onto Marwood Road to return to the Community Centre
