[1] You can investigate Pentland Hills Information Centre (open daily 9:30am -4pm) before striding out into Flotterstone Glen. From the car park adjacent to the Information Centre take path through the woods before emerging onto the road. Take path on left through gate sign posted " Scald Law", "Glencorse Reservoir by Old Filter Beds". At next junction of farm track, go straight on, sign posted "Glencorse Reservoir by Old Filter Beds" following the Glencorse Burn. Continue past Old Filter Beds & Picnic Area into woods & pass path to waterfall on left, before climbing back onto the road. ( Note : If you take the path to view the waterfall on left, return back to main track. Path past waterfall climbs to head of Glencorse Reservoir which has locked gate access back to road ).

[2] Turn left on road & continue past Glencorse & Loganlea Reservoirs to The Howe, Farm House.
[3] Cross Logan Burn & take sign posted route "Kirk Road", "Penicuik". Climb the hill path, crossing a stile to the Col between Carnethy Hill & Scald Law.
[4] At the Col turn left. Up a straight forward hill path climb Carnethy Hill (573m). The fine summit is topped with a sprawling Bronze Age cairn, which provides shelter providing an ideal picnic spot. The path off the summit, straight forward from ascent, zigzags down to the Col before ascending straight forward up to the summit of Turnhouse Hill (506m). Follow the main path down from the summit through a stand of trees before crossing over Glencorse Burn back to the road & Pentland Hills Information Centre.
