[1] Leave Bewcastle Sure Start centre and turn left along Bewcastle Grove. When safe to do so, cross over the road and turn right along Holderness Road. Cross side roads with care. Towards the end of Holderness Road, follow the pavement/footpath to the right and it will soon run alongside Beaumont Leys Lane. Caution: This is a very busy road - adults to supervise small children. Cross the road using the central reservation (suggest smaller groups if crossing with buggies/prams).
[2] On the far side, turn left along Beaumont Leys Lane and at the roundabout turn right into Beaumont Park. Follow the path ahead into the park. (beware of cyclists using the paths in the park)
The green space of the park is a good opportunity to do an activity with the children. You might like to spend time playing on the grass then return directly to the centre by the outward route. (take care that children do not pick up any dangerous litter)
Alternatively, if you prefer to do more walking, follow the path ahead. Pass the path which branches off to the right. A path later merges from the left. Bear right onto the main path and continue ahead.
[5] On reaching the cross paths, turn right and continue.
[6] Take the next path on the right and follow it to the next path junction. Turn left to rejoin the path you walked on your outward route. Re-trace your steps to the centre, taking care at the road crossing.
