[1] Turn left out of the Henson street main entrance into the park and keep left at every junction into the large greenspace. If dry, take the wooden steps on your right and turn left through the wood. You emerge by what could be called a stone sculpture (A). You can see that it has been made from random pillars, millstones, gateposts and steps. Cut across the grass and turn right at the bus stop. Go straight on past the shops and disused pub, following the dual walkway and cycle path.
[2] Turn right through the black and white bollards opposite the play area (B), left at the seat then immediately right into Darnall Cemetery (C), a municipal plot covering 5 acres dating from 1859. Go straight on up the steps and turn right on the paved path just beyond the play area. Continue between the houses to the junction, cross over and turn left.
[3] Turn right along the main road. Notice how some buildings have closed, like the pub and Salvation Army. Turn right just beyond the fire station (D), following the zigzag path with handrails. Turn left into the cul de sac and right into Uttley Close. Keep straight on between the houses and cross the road to Chapelwood Meeting Room. Turn left then right into Fitzmaurice Road and take the path on the left back to school.
