Description

[1] Start from the water troughs at the junction of Worrall Road and Kirk Edge Road, ascend the hill and turn left at the school sign at the end of the houses. Cross the field to the electricity pole and continue on the same line to a stile in the wall corner. Head up to the next stile, turn right then diagonally across the field to the stile. Follow the wall towards the farm, turn right then left along the road. Go straight on along public footpath 52 and bear left as you enter access land. Go straight on upon reaching the golf course and follow the path closest to the fairway.

[2] Cross the road and continue along the lane. There is an information panel on Wadsley and Loxley Commons (A) at the first parking area and several seats with good views before you reach the main car park. Continue on the improved path beyond the road. Bear left at the fork on the signed footpath and left at the four-way sign. Pass through the broken wall and continue through an open area with a rustic picnic table and seats. The main trail descends through woodland. By keeping left you can descend through Rural Lane car park to Worrall Lane to catch a 57 bus. To continue, bear right through the gap and between fences. Pass the Rose and Crown and turn right on Luke Lane. Turn right on Aldene Road, left into Bland Lane and follow the tarmac bridleway up to the right. Leave the track at the right-hand bend and go straight on along the signed bridleway. Turn left after 80 yards and descend to the road. (buses 14 and 62)

[3] Cross over, turn right for a few yards then left on the bridleway. Keep to the right-hand side of the greenspace and descend behind the houses. Cross the tarmac path at the waymark post and cross the road to continue on the bridleway. Cross Loxley Road and turn right at the footpath sign. Turn left at the footpath sign and descend some steps to join the river (B). Turn right down another set of steps to a weir, where a head goit channels water into a mill dam, which you now pass. Continue alongside the Loxley to the road and continue along Loxley New Road to Malin Bridge tram stop
