Description

[1] With the church to your rear proceed in a southerly direction along Church Lane until it meets a junction with Hopehouse Lane. At the junction continue in the same direction into a field at a finger post. Continue across the field passing to the left hand side of an electrical pole. Pass a marker post showing Geo Park Way and continue forwards along the well defined path up to the right hand field corner. Turn left and proceed along the right hand hedge, passing a gap until you arrive at a stile in the hedge. Cross a footbridge and stile into the field beyond then turn left into the field corner then turn right and continue in the southerly direction. To the right you have a good view of Berrow Hill and if you look behind there are excellent views across the north of the county and the Clee Hills are also visible on a clear day. At the top of the sloping field cross over a stile and turn left. Continue across the field keeping the fence on the left until you meet a crossing fence. Cross the stile in the left hand corner then turn right and walk towards a gateway in the fence at the end of the wall in front of Upper Holling Farm.

[2] Pass through the gateway, cross the road and enter the driveway to some barns. Continue forwards with a conifer hedge on the right and tall conifers on the left. Pass through the gap in the hedge ahead and bear to the left along the left hand hedge and proceed down hill, ignoring the first crossing footpath and stile on your left in second field. Along this section are excellent views of Bredon Hill and the Cotswolds beyond and to the right views of the Malverns Hills. Continue with hedge on your left and at the bottom of the field follow the hedge as it bears left until you come to an iron gate in the left hand hedge. Pass through the gate into the field beyond and continue forwards to a farm gate in the opposite hedge to the left of a brick built garage. Pass through the farm gate onto a road. Turn right along the road until it meets a road junction on the right. Continue forwards along the road ignoring a marker post on the left hand side. Continue along the road until you reach another junction from the right near a white house. Continue on leftwards in the direction of Broadwas and Broadheath for a short way until you reach a marker post and sign to Candleford on your left.

[3] Turn left onto the gravel drive and continue forwards along the drive between two fences. Warning! along this section there are no way-marks so keep strictly to these instructions. Pass through a wooden gate and continue on with paddocks on the right hand side. Pass in front of the farm building until you reach the hedge in front. Turn sharp left and pass to the right side of the farmhouse to a wooden gate in the field corner. Pass through the gate into the field beyond and continue forward along the right hand hedge.Pass over a stile in the right hand corner of the field and continue on the same line to a marker post and stile in a further fence in front of a grey barn. Go over the stile towards the barn,

[4] When approaching the barn look for a stile in the right hand corner of the field. Pass over this stile and immediately turn left and pass over the adjacent stile into the farm yard.Go forwards past a large clump of brambles to join a farm track ahead. Turn left onto the track and continue along through a gateway until you reach a stile in the right hand hedge. Go over the stile and pass to the right of a small pond into the field beyond. Continue along the right hand hedge aiming for a stile in the opposite fence. The stile is a little overgrown so an alternative is to pass through a field gap just to the left of the stile and cross over the farm track and over a metal gate into the field beyond. Proceed across the field along the right hand hedge towards a stile in the opposite hedge. The stile is overgrown so pass through a gap to the side and continue on to the right hand corner of the hedge opposite. Cross over the stile onto a road, turn right and then left into a driveway signed Cobhouse Farm. Continue along the drive until you reach a fork and take the right hand path and quickly come to a wooden gate in the right hand fence. Pass through the gate, turn left and proceed along the left hand hedge. Eventually you reach a gap in the left hand hedge.

[5] Turn left through the gap and continue forwards with the fence on your left until you eventually reach a way marked wooden gate . Pass through the gate and continue forwards over a roadway and to the left of the hedge towards a metal gate in the distance. Pass through this gate into an avenue of trees. Walk up this avenue to meet a wooden gate ahead. Pass through the wooden gate, ignoring a small pedestrian gate in the left hand fence, and continue along the avenue until you arrive at a collection of chicken houses. The path goes between them and eventually you reach a metal gate through which you pass and onto a road beyond. Cross the road bearing slightly right to join another path by a finger post. The path goes slightly downhill through a wooded area and eventually exits at a lay-by on the B4204. Turn left along the road to go slightly uphill and over a bridge where you arrive at a finger post in the left hand hedge.

[6] The finger post is signed St Peters Church. Pass over a stile and continue across the field along a well defined path. (Depending on the time of year the path may not be as well defined so in this case proceed along the left hand hedge until you reach the metal pedestrian gate.) The path ends at a metal pedestrian gate in the opposite fence. Another path joins from the right at this point. Go through the gate and forwards along a well defined path across the centre of the field until you reach another metal pedestrian gate. Pass through the gate and proceed, bearing half right, to pass to the left of a large tree and on towards the field corner where a gate is visible. Pass through the metal gate, across the bridge and through a second gate. Turn left and proceed along the left hand hedge until reaching a right hand field corner.

[7] Turn right at the corner, ignoring the footpath going through the trees on a track to your left and continue along the left hand field boundary. It is possible to see St Peters Church ahead through some trees. Eventually you come to a marker post indicating the direction across the field along a well defined path. The path ends at a gap in the hedge on to a poor roadway which leads past the church to the car park where the walks finishes. You may wish to visit the church which has some very interesting features .
