Description

Starting from 722 Prince of Wales Road, Darnall, Sheffield

[1] Turn left up Prince of Wales Road, left again at the top of the car park and follow the tarmac path beside the fence. At the bottom of the railings, go straight on across the grass and join the improved path of the Trans Pennine Trail at a seat. Leave the path as you approach the wood and follow the left-hand edge of the grassy area to a gap in the fence.

[2] Bear left and go straight on along the right-hand of two paths ascending into the wood (A). Bear right at a minor path junction and continue to climb. You will see a seat to your right and another 100yds straight ahead. Continue towards this one and take the path on the right just before reaching it. Turn right at the junction along a wide path with 10 yards further on a huge seat suitable for a lunch stop.

[3] Turn right at the next junction marked by a metal pole to join the Trans Pennine Trail (B) and cycle route 67, which is also lined with seats. Descend into a dip and leave the wood at an A-frame. Return to 722 by your outward route, remembering to take the shortcut from the seat to the bottom of the railing.
