Description

[1]  Turn right from Cavendish Square library and cross Whitbourne Avenue over to St John's Church.

[2] Turn right, then turn left into Bridport Road.  Follow Bridport Road all the way along until reaching Welcombe Avenue.  Turn right at the mini roundabout, then turn left into Clanfield Road.  At the end, turn right into Dulverton Avenue, then left at the mini-roundabout into Welcombe Avenue.   In a short distance turn right into Yeovil Close, then right again into Dawlish Road.  Dawlish Road will take you onto Shaftesbury Avenue - turn left.

[3] Walking left along Shaftesbury Avenue, you will see a large green opposite, then a small wooded copse.  Cross to the opposite side and walk alongside the copse; keep going past a power sub-station until you reach Tyndale Gardens.  Turn right here, keeping the green open space to your left - you will see in front of you a metal bridge which crosses over a small river known as the River Cole.

[4] Turn right onto a leafy footpath.  Follow footpath past the next metal bridge - the green opens out to your left here; follow path until you come to the Richard Jefferies Adventure Playground (A).  Keep going past the next bridge and across the cycle path (look out for cyclists).

Note:  There is an alternate route here for wheelchair users - turn right into cycle path and carefully cross Shaftesbury Avenue to return to Cavendish Square along Whitbourne Avenue.

[5] Turn right when you come to a wooden bridge by the lake (caution, open water), cross the bridge and walk along the lakeside back to Shaftesbury Avenue.  Cross over, turn left and then right into Pakenham Road.  Follow Pakenham Road onto Cranmore Avenue, turn right and cross over, walk to Priory Road where you turn left to follow the road back to Cavendish Square.
