[1] Facing the main entrance of the Peepul Centre turn left and follow the footpath for about 50m
(A) The Peepul Centre (and Sainsburys) stands on the site of Belgrave Station. This terminus It opened on January 1st 1883 and closed 9th September 1962. Trains went to Peterborough and Grantham with summer specials to Skegness and Mablethorpe.
[2] Turn left onto the path just before the playground, continue around the far side of the grey building onto Donaldson Road.
[3] Cross the car park onto go forwards to Belgrave Road, then take the pedestrian crossing at the bottom of the Belgrave Flyover
[4] Turn left at the other side of the crossing and continue along Belgrave Road
[5] Turn right onto Abbey Park Street . At the end, turn right onto Abbey Park Road
[6] Turn right immediately after the river bridge and descend the ramped path to the river bank.
[7] Continue forwards and go under the road bridge. Take the steps or ramp immediately after the bridge on the right and continue up to the road.
[8] Turn left along Abbey Park Road and turn left into the car park
[9] Pass through the car park into Abbey Park and take to path to the right
(B) Abbey Park was purchased as a flood alleviation scheme in 1876. It was opened as a public park on 29th May 1882 by the Prince and Princess of Wales. The decorative Victorian park contains lakes, trees, shrubberies and is has many sporting facilities. On the west side of the River Soar lie the ruins of the Abbey which was founded in 1143.
[10] Take the next path on the left and walk around the wooded are on your right to the end of the path
[11] At the end turn right along the path
(C) Straight facing is the The Garden of the Senses which has been designed to appeal to all the senses - sight, sound, smell and touch. These are excited by plants and flowers, water features, wind chimes, plants that pick up the sound of the breeze and sculptures.
[12] After a few meters turn left and pass through the wrought iron gates of the main entrance
[13] Turn right onto Abbey Park Road and continue to the first pedestrian crossing, on the left, at the start of the traffic island (Belgrave Flyover)
[14] Use the pedestrian crossing to cross over the two carriageways to the other side of Abbey Park Road.
[15] Take the pedestrian crossings under the Belgrave Flyover to the other side of Belgrave Road
[16] Turn left and continue for a short distance up Belgrave Road
[17] Turn right onto the Sainsburys pedestrian way, which is next to the vehicle exist for Sainsburies.
[18] Use the zebra crossings to cross the road in the car park and walk down the left hand side of the building and you will see the Peepul Centre in front of you.
