Description

[1] Turn right out of  Royal Crescent Surgery and walk up Astrid Way to the Esplanade. The sea and beach will be across the main road from you. Turn right along The Esplanade. Continue along the footpath until you reach the pedestrian crossing point to get to the footpath adjacent to the seashore.

[2] At the pedestrian crossing point, cross the main road and turn right along the main footpath in the direction of the Jubilee Clock. Follow this path past the Clock and the King George Statue, until you come to  the Pavilion Theatre.

[3] Turn around and proceed to re trace your route back to Royal Crescent Surgery using the same pedestrian crossing point.

POI information

A. Jubilee Memorial Clock

The Memorial Clock was erected in 1887-1888 to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria. Built in cast and wrought iron on a stone base, the clock has four faces and each side has panels containing the queen"s head and the borough"s coat of arms.

B.King George 111 statue

Designed by architect James Hamilton and John Sealy of Coade and Sealy, the stone statue of the King was unveiled in 1810.

c.The Pavilion Theatre

The original Pavilion was built on reclaimed land beside the PilePier in 1908, but a fire destroyed the building in 1954. In 1960, a new Pavilion opened on the same site. The Pavilion offers a range of entertainment and has rooms for hire.
