Getting there

Buses from Ringwood/Ferndown (No 38) pass through the Heatherlands Estate hourly. No X6 operates hourly from Poole/Bournemouth.

Parking is available on side roads alongside Hope Church.

Description

[1] Leaving the Health Centre turn right on Corbin Avenue. Continue as road bears left to join a rd, Ford Lane. Bear right, passing Medway Road, to join Humber Road and bear right. Cross road very soon when safe to do so and cross grassy verge on left to enter a cul-de-sac, Thames Close.

[2] Follow road around to right to rejoin Humber Road at bus shelter.  Cross road and follow path ahead to left of bus shelter. At road turn left and after two stand-alone garages on right, take path on right to road. Bear right and follow road until you reach a road coming in on your left.  Turn left along it and go straight ahead onto a path between houses to a road, Barnes Road.  Here you can see the Heatherlands Centre on your right and Severn Road straight ahead.

[3] Turn right and follow Barnes Road as it turns right at the Heatherlands Centre, passing Petwyn Close and Lockyers Drive on left to reach Bolton Crescent on left.

[4] Turn left & follow Bolton Crescent as it bears right.  Turn left into Corbin Avenue to return to the Health Centre. 

POI information

A   Hope Church is a new church affiliated to the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches (FIEC). It holds services on Sundays at the Heatherlands Community Centre at 10.30am and at Corbin Avenue at 6.30pm.

B    The Community Centre was founded in 2001 and changed its name to Heatherlands in 2009 when the mural at the back of the Centre was commissioned. The mural is said to depict the responsibilty of youngsters in safeguarding the heath from arson attacks. The Centre is managed by John Hanrahan who also manages the Jitsu Club housed there.
