Description

[1] Starting from the forecourt of the Allendale Centre, go out into Hanham Road and cross over the road using the pedestrian controlled crossing.  Go into the car park of the Olive Branch by either the entrance from Hanham Road or the one in East Borough.  Walk through the seating area and cross the wooden bridge over the river Allen into the council car park.

[2] Immediately turn right, over another bridge  and through the archway into the Cooperative carpark on your left.

[3] Continue along this riverside path with the supermarket on your left until you reach Crown Mead,  a walkway which links to the High Street.

[4] Turn right and detour around the little garden if desired before passing the library on your right and then reaching the High Street.

[5] Turn left and walk down the High Street until you reach East Street.

[6] Cross over with care and turn right into King Street.  Continue past the Methodist church on your left.

[7]  Turn left into Grammar School Lane and continue round until it rejoins King Street.

[8] Cross the road using the pedestrian controlled crossing immediately on your right and walk straight ahead through the church yard to the left of the Minster.  After passing the Minster doors on your right, bear slightly right round the end of the church and almost immediately slightly left to pass a monument on your right and to come out into a narrow road, Cook Row.

[9] Walk directly on into Church Street past the little Oddfellows Pub on your right until you reach the Square.  Ahead of you is the Kings Head pub.

[10] Turn  left into West Street so that the Kings Head pub is on your right.  Cross the road when it is safe to do so and continue to the mini roundabout.

[11] Turn right to head up Victoria Road passing the Green Man pub on your left and turn right into Westfield Close.

[12] Follow the road around to the right and walk ahead through the car parks bearing left and then right to come out into Redcotts Lane.

[13] Turn left here, then immediately after the NatWest car park, turn right through the British Legion car park, to reach the main road - West Borough.

[14] Turn left and after passing the Tivoli Theatre, cross the road at the traffic lights to turn into Priors Walk, which becomes Hanham Road.  Cross at the pedestrian controlled crossing and turn right to proceed back to the entrance to the Allendale Centre.
