East Dorset: St Michaels church walk

Public transport Wilts & Dorset no. 13 bus from Bournemouth and Wimborne to Wimborne Road, Colehill.

Car parking in St Michael's Church Centre car park when activities there.  Alternatively, use parking bays outside neighbouring St Michael's Middle School entrance.

From Wimborne the route to Colehill is sign-posted on Leigh Road up St John's Hill, over the roundabout up Rowlands Hill which becomes Wimborne Road.  At the crossroads, turn left onto Colehill Lane and St Michael's Church Centre car park  is after the school on the left.

[1] From St Michael's Church Centre car park turn left on Colehill Lane and pass the church on your left to reach the crossroads.

(A) St Michael's Church Centre http://www.stmichaels-church-colehill.co.uk/stmichaels-churchcentre.htm is used by the church and community for many activities.

[2] Cross Smugglers Lane and continue up Colehill Lane as far as New Merrifield nos. 14/23 on your left. (Caution: Busy road - take care when crossing Smugglers Lane)

[3] Turn left and continue to pass the last bungalow.

[4] Turn right to a T- junction where you take a left turn onto unmade road which continues to another T- junction.

[5] Turn left and proceed to Smugglers Lane and cross to the opposite side. (Caution: Busy road - take care when crossing)

[6] Turn left passing the vicarage to a small wooden gate to the churchyard on your right.

[7] Enter the gateway and follow the path around St Michael's Church, through the churchyard, passing notice boards about wildlife conservation.  Exit on Colehill Lane where  St Michael's Church Centre car park is on your right.

(B) St Michael's Church http://www.stmichaels-church-colehill.co.uk/stmichaels-history.htm has many interesting artifacts and is built in the Arts and Crafts style.
