Description

This inner city walk has a number of busy roads, please take care when crossing and walking beside them.  Use pedestrian crossings where possible.

Some of the pavements and paths are uneven in places and may have cars parked on them - take care.

[1] Turn left outside the Centre onto Woodbridge Road, continue over Berridge Lane onto Fieldhouse Road.

[2] Take the path at the end and turn right onto Bath Street, bear left and then right to continue along Bath Street.

[3]  After about 400 meters turn left by the Amusement Depot and take the path in front - signposted for Watermead Park.  Continue forward on this main path to the bridge over the stream feeding the River Soar.

(A)  There is very often a pair of swans on the river who seem to enjoy left over sandwiches!  A few crusts of bread might not go amiss (can always be eaten if the swans aren't there!).

Take care in this area - especially keep an eye on children in the proximity of water.

[4]  Immediately after the bridge turn sharp right to take the path next to the stream, which is on the right, and continue to the end.

[5]  Turn right onto Melton Road and continue forward passing the Owl and Pussycat.

[6] Turn right onto Woodbridge Road to return to the centre.
