[1] From Leverton & Halls cafe (A), facing the cafe, turn right - opposite are the Almshouses (B). Bear right to cross Mary Vale Road at the bollards and keep ahead on Linden Road.
(A) The Tudor style shops at the start are thought to be the first shops in Bournville - built in 1897. The first houses in Bournville were built in 1895 on the north side of Maryvale Road.
(B) The Almshouses - 33 of them, with free coal, water and gas, were built 1897-8 for over-60s, preference being given to Cadburys employees.
Cross Linden Road at the pelican crossing and turn left and then right back into Mary Vale Road, right hand side.
[2] Turn right into and cross Franklin Road to enter Selly Hall Croft, go ahead and then cross to right hand pavement in York Close. Cross the end of Lancaster Close to continue ahead in York Close.
[3] Turn right to take the path between Nos 31 and 33 York Close. Entering Cotteridge Park (C), take the level path ahead to turn left steeply downhill by the notice board, then continue ahead on surfaced path uphill. At park entrance keep ahead past the car park on the bark chipping surfaced path.
(C) Cotteridge Park has a very active Friends Group and is the scene of the annual CoCoMad festival, always very well-attended.
[4] At the park boundary, turn right to cross Franklin Road then turn left uphill to the crossroads. Here turn right onto Linden Road, passing the bus shelter and telephone box. Passing Esso/Tesco Express entrance/exit continue on to cross Beaumont Road and then go left across Linden Road by the pelican crossing ahead and over Mary Vale Road at the bollards to return to the start point.
