The River Windrush is the centrepiece of Bourton-on-the-Water. Three rivers meet near the route and the area has been settled at least since the Iron Age. Former gravel extraction has left areas now landscaped with fishing lakes. Muddy at times.

This circular walk takes you into the gentle hills and coombes north of West Monkton on track, fields and some minor roads. Several stiles but no steep ascents. One section can be very muddy. Some good views.
